Around the World

Somewhere around the world, a rose petal is ameliorated in a thanatoid descent away from its rotting corpse.

An akward teenage girl oozing diffidence from her pores is sitting in a bathroom stall with a pregnancy test in her hand. Disconsolate, the result of a one night's attempt at trying to fit in.

You poked me in the side as a doctor would inject a patient with a needle, and then you wondered why I didn't smile. I didn't have the strength to tell you my heart was what needed repair.

You cried with false altruism "Oh no, I broke you!"

I smiled at your ambiguous statement and replied curtly "Yeah, you did"

And then the irony split my accursed ribs in half and the surgery began.

The rose continued its declension as the crumpled petals collapsed to the ground in shameful atrophy.

The adolescent girl emerged from her cocoon of self doubt and destruction to read the baneful test. She rushed out the door in a joyous dash and embraced the first affable person who smiles at her. She glances skyward and finds new faith, instead of the apostasy she was dwelling in.

And from that point on, their lives changed forever.

But all the while,
                       the world kept turning
and the people of the universe went on
                       living their abstruse lives.

The sutures were complete and I, the queen of rags reached toward my heart and felt a new patch latched onto my skin, ornamented with a story mixed with pain and suffering, but hope and love too.

A couple of lonely sunrises and sunsets later, you once again prodded my side. I yelped with surprise and laughter
And you said "Hey, I thought you were broken?"

I stared you directly in your deep brown eyes that I had once fallen so hard over and proudly replied,
"Well, I guess I'm not anymore"

And at that moment the world stopped turning for a fraction of a second.

The quotes were from real life conversations I had with this guy.

Some people were never meant to be okay.
