I wish I were a Teddy bear
for teddies never cry.
You hold them, love them, throw them
they not once wonder "why?"
The spotless white and soft fur
and tiny beady eyes.
Shiny red and little nose,
and a smile that never dies.
You drag them wherever you go,
they don't once complain.
Whatever it is that you may do,
they never show disdain.
They let you hug them
and hold them close all night,
for they've never known the difference
of darkness from the light.
I wish I were a Teddy bear
perhaps you'd love me then,
for I wouldn't ever show my tears,
nor bring to paper, my pen.
