"Land Ho port side Cap'n" his first mate bellows putting
up his wet finger learning direction-of a wicked wind.
Passing his spyglass forward as Caribbean skies blacken
o'er a fiery mist surely ready for vile guts gore and sin.
There in the distance approaching fast they spotted
a two-sail brigantine reading for battle array.
"Doeth ye knowth such demon colors Cap'n?"
"aye! tis me sea witch; she flies or dies today."
"Tis heavy with supplies not sir." "Ah tis me booty for the taking."
"ahoy Cap'n Tyrus unhand me ship, lower thou bones or taste me whip."
"Thou shall die before sunset" his manly-voice deep as the abyss reigned in!
closer, closer revealed his foe; it was the Sea-hag Sabrina's brawny lip.
Daughter of Cap'n Red-Beard who's sleeping with Davy Jones and the fishes
she was quick a lightening, from a rope she was eye to eye with a reaper.
Both Cap'n drew their swords, as skies turned to pitch, blood flowed
"twas thee cometh aboard me vessel in Madagascar away ye leaper."
"Nay! tis me sister" as the metal clashed putting the storm to shame.
ships damn near run aground 'til a ball opened Tyrus' chest and she cries.
In one fortnight her eyes blinded by untamed lust weakness hath won
"twill be a cold day in hell if his killer walks alive and me lover dies."
"Fetch me clothes, briny water this must be cleaned, him saved,
be dammed who shot him, to the plank; he's father of me unborn babe."

Good job...
You told this so well, that I didn't want it to end... more please.

I do not know much about pirates or the like, excuse my petty ignorance, but this was a fascinating read and a novel expeience. Thanks for sharing...

A duel on the seas underneath a black carribean sky...how fetching is the image. It would seem as if the pirate Tyrus only thinks he knows his ememy, does Sabrina know hers? Perhaps in the spawn of future battles, all will be found out.
Terrific story, and full of imagery. It is easy to see the two pirate captains hanging in the ropes as the ships come abreast; aye, there be battle here...
Great job, Dove; I love you.

Loved the story...
...shows good imagination. However the rules require rhyme? What is your pattern here? The flow was good dispite the lack of rhyme and the surprise ending was very good!

-
excellent
What a great take on the prompt. So very pirate told. Best of luck in the contest.

Provocative
Oh my sister! what an adventure. you really
get all into these types of writes don't you.
Its clear to see you've got plenty of imagination
and creativity to spare. Gosh, you have stirred
my interest a bit. I love the free spiritedness
and excitement in the read. The sense of danger
and not knowing whats next out there in the
wild of and endless cosmos. Great job!

Great job!
I could have read more of this. Excellent job on the dialect, it never missed a beat. They always say don't write it too long...but this was too short. You hit the mark with this one.
