A Show of Affection not a Note of Destruction

The movement of your hands
has long vanished from my body.

Your rough voice no longer laughs
when I ask a dumb question.

I no longer see your handsome features
smiling down at me when I trip and stumble.

Meaningless words from your unique mind
don't make me laugh when I'm sad.

Those strong arms don't reach for me
when tears fall and I crumble.

Your very existence alone
doesn't melt away the world
as it did not long ago.

And it's not that I don't care about you
that's far from it.

It's 'cause you're devoted to another
someone better, someone different.

I'm not causing trouble
I promise, it's true.
I just can't get over
my feelings for you.

Oh man. This hurts to read. Pain. I can feel every ounce of it. You miss him or her. I dunno cause the contest is anonymous. You've done a good job and followed the rules. You make me think back to my own sad times. Great write and good luck.

    nifty

It's short and to the point. I think my favorite part would have to be the ending. I think it works well together, it's not particularly rythymical or anything but it's got a lot of heart behind it. I'd really kind of hate to be the ex in this poem. Also, you shouldn't call anyone 'better' than you.
