A man wrote down his wants today on a crumpled piece of paper.
He put them in his pocket to be accomplished later
Little did he know there was no time to spare
They found him face down in the park
At ten minute to three
With nothing on him but a crumpled list of his dreams.
The officer’s hand smudged the ink then it dried on queue
If you aint careful your dreams may dry up too
A mugger fled the park today with blood on his hands
Knowing he’d gone to far this time
For forty three dollars and six cents
The gun still good with one more round he aimed at his head
As the gunshot rang a list fell to the floor of things he never did
One be a good man
Two go to college
Three make mama proud
Four be a good man
Five never give up
Six don’t turn out wrong
They found him face down on the floor
At twenty after three
With nothing on him but a gun and a list of his dreams
The officer’s hand smudged the ink then it dried on queue
If you aint careful your dreams may dry up too
One be a good man
Two go to college
Three make mama proud
Four be a good man
Five never give up
Six don’t turn out wrong
Two young men died today
Neither left a single thing but a bit of blood
And a tattered list of dreams
One be a good man
Two go to college
Three make mama proud
Four be a good man
Five never give up
Six don’t turn out wrong
One be a good man
Two go to college
Three make mama proud
Four be a good man
Five never give up
Six don’t turn out wrong
Six don't turn out wrong
Six don't waste it all
Six don't waste it all

A soulful comment on society, wasted lives, lost dreams and all that lies in between. Definitely a blue subject.
