Forgotten Promises

Tears streaming down my face
Something's out of place
I turn around and stare
You promised to always be there
So where are you now
I must find you somehow
You promised that I'd just have to call
And you'd be there to catch my fall
My world is burning down all around
What was lost must be found
Forgotten promises leave you lonely
Why does this damn world seem so phony
You said never would I have to reach out for you
Why can't things be like they used to
I feel that my soul is dying
But never will I stop trying
Now I kneel down calling
Please come and stop me from falling

    Great!

Disappointment is something we all encounter. It is a part of living. Your poem reflects that feeling extremely well. No one knows whether that "certain individual" falls through with that promise...in your poem. It is very open-ended, and that's what I love about it. Every person who reads this can put there own end to it. We have all lived this situation, after all. I hope, in your case, they fell through. Great piece.
