I Thought You Loved Me

When she asked me if I loved her..
I closed my eyes and I thought..

I thought of every sleepless night without her..
I thought even more of the sleepless nights with her..

I thought about the first time she lied to me..
I thought about when she said it wouldn't happen again..

I thought about when she didn't come home..
I thought about why she felt explanations weren't needed..

I thought about how much pain she's caused me..
I thought about the pain my family has been through..

I thought about how she spoke of such phenomenal qualities..
I thought harder about where they fell into place..

So when I opened my eyes..
I looked into hers..
And I said..
