Eulogy

when your loving spirit was released its beauty could be seen in the unique elegance of each snowflake's crystalline lace
illuminated by the most radiant gold of sunshine, showering sparkles in midair

the world was a better place when you were in it
and through the memories of you, that goodness lasts
it lives forever in the hearts you touched
frozen there in time like the warming laughter of freshly fallen snow
raindrops twinkle now like stars as your eternal spirit swirls across night and day
through all the seasons

you brought new life to my heart
and I have grown because of knowing you
we taught each other of trust, love, and respect
we shared our joys and fears
our love and our lives
I will miss you always
though the pain diminishes with time
and fades into the shadow of who I was and where my life has been
for the first time in many years
I must enter a new phase of my life without your companionship
leaving behind the places we shared...
...the memories still burning there

I go to a new place you never really knew
yet even there, lies the memory of you and I
on a dock, over a lake, happy in the sun

I love you and I will not confine you to moments of sadness
you are now free to fly with the snow flakes and splash with the raindrops
to live amidst the starlit sky
