Body Barrier

I start here humbly
A longing child
Clinging to a rooftop
Near a streetlight spilling orange
without discrimination.

Writing desperate and flustered scratches.
Of the nothing...
Of everything I know.

And all that I wish so fervently
To hold, cupped, in my trembling hands.
To take one sip of the spirit of a thousand glasses
of the finest and reddest wines.
And always thirst for more.

For droughts like these may be overwhelming in flavor.
But only teach you that there is more.
So much more for you.

So here I sit
With an exhausted glass
Lamenting the inadequate words
Blotting the PERFECT innocence
Of one page
In one diary
Getting smeared into the shining darkness
On my fingertips
Rubbing sleep out of my eyes
And the night into them

Where soon, I am seized suddenly
By wisps of moonlight
A brief and passing thought of You.
Your lips in my hair
And between my shoulder blades
Tracing where the wings would go
If I looked the way I felt
If only

We've traveled from pillowed whisper
To walking in dreams
I shift in the depths of my mind
Past the soaring jeweled birds
Defying the terrible power of the ocean
Where we kissed
And learned what weightlessness really was

A deep still pond
Reflecting planes streaking
With shooting star trails
Among the willow branches
Forged behemoths
All air and grace
Shoving through the clouds
With forceful tenacity

Misty as the breaths of dreamers
Adhering together earnestly
Songs shouted out car windows
In ecstasy and wind rush
Whispers
Passionate shrills and thrills
And infinite essences of life
Ascending star bound as glorious vapor
Unburdening the mouths
That once held them captive

Now all silence and peace
And contentment
As the streetlamp fades to nothing
As it travels out to nonbeing
Passing the starlight come to fill the void

And you and I...
We are here together
Your breath and mine
Entwining so far above the rest
With an enduring blue so vast
That maybe we have finally found a place
A place that can subsume all the color
In our entangled hearts
And fill every prism on earth
With all the words we have in our souls
For eachother
Those words unspoken
That we have no language for

But you know I live in you, Love
And you in me
We will ask eachother always:
"Who Put These Bodies Between Us?"

What do you think?

    Welcome to AllPoetry

You have penned quite the tale of oneness. I loved some of the visuals you painted each with an emotional intensity radiating from its center. I thouroughly enjoyed the poem. It was detailed but not distracting or heavy. I kept me moving through looking forward to each next thought until the end.

    Keep the ink flowing
