You invade my peaceful dreams like some kind of monster.
Leaving me with the need for reassurance
I don't want to see you...
I'm at a loss of your absence.

I fall asleep as happy as can be,
Then something takes a turn for the worst,
and It's just your face I see
And my happiness is reversed.

Shouldn't I feel alright?
I've tried to get over you,
I've tried to sleep at night,
But you invade everything I do.

You're my nightmare,
My once pleasant dreams,
You're just happy an unaware,
While I'm breaking at the seams.

You're the monster under my bed,
Moving stealthily at night,
Explanations unsaid,
Trying to stay out of sight.

I try to be brave,
And not let you scare me,
But every night I feel you lead me closer to my grave,
And I'm stunned by your beauty.

I can't seem to run fast enough,
You're always a step behind,
waiting for my one mess up,
so you can invade my mind.

Tonight I'm over you,
No longer should you scare me,
You're just the little boy I once knew,
