Mr. Redbird Returns

Last noticed, Mr. Redbird seems to have disappeared,
I was worried about my fair feathered friend.
Last seen, his beautiful red cover was molting.
He was a shambles I observed.

But he returned today.
While not exactly looking like his old self,
He certainly was acting like his old self.
Mr. Redbird seemed to be better.

To celebrate his return,
To his delight,
I placed some seed on the patio table,
And Mr. Redbird hopped up to enjoy.

He sits there.
He picks at one seed after another.
He clicks his beak.
He is a thrill to my eyes.

Every once in while,
A sparrow comes by,
To check Mr. Redbird out.

But he too cleaver and he knows,
The sparrow spies his food.
So Mr. Redbird,
Chases the sparrows away.

Once the seed was gone,
Mr. Redbird jumped down to the floor.
He walked to the patio door,
Looking for more.

Yes, Mr. Redbird is,
Feeling like his old self.
I laugh; I cry tears of joy,
As a I know,
Mr. Redbird has returned at last!
