The End

As I looked into your eyes
And we made our plain goodbyes
All I knew was I could not
Leave believing, "this is it."

So we said we'd meet again
And we named the place and when
But we both knew we would not,
Both believing, "this is it."

This is so beautiful and so succinct that it's a jewel! You have refined it to a diamond!

I thought this was short but extremely powerful. I would pick out my favourite lines except I would end up copying the entire poem into my comment. So I will settle for saying I loved it all.
