If I hold my breathe I can see the stars I'm reaching for.
And when I run fast enough, I feel like I'm
reaching something,
going towards something.
accomplishing something.
I know I can do what I wrap my fingers around,
what I picture in my mind will come to be,
and something that I created with these clumsy hands
will exist in this world, because of me.
And only me.
And I will walk the miles it takes to find that one
square of land where i'm supposed to stand
(here? nowhere?)
and I will stand with the spotlight coloring my skin
as people shout my name into oblivion.
I know I can achieve anything,
I know I can feed this hunger inside me to be...
to be something.
someone.
I have to.
I will...
I will belong.
And when I run fast enough, I feel like I'm
reaching something,
going towards something.
accomplishing something.
I know I can do what I wrap my fingers around,
what I picture in my mind will come to be,
and something that I created with these clumsy hands
will exist in this world, because of me.
And only me.
And I will walk the miles it takes to find that one
square of land where i'm supposed to stand
(here? nowhere?)
and I will stand with the spotlight coloring my skin
as people shout my name into oblivion.
I know I can achieve anything,
I know I can feed this hunger inside me to be...
to be something.
someone.
I have to.
I will...
I will belong.
Author notes
I love the song 'go the distance' cause that's exactly how I feel most of the time. Like, I would do anything to be someone I truly am, and be somewhere I truly belong. to accomplish things and be rememered.
I hope this was okay...

wonderful
I really like this poem! I like the four grouping (starts with 'I know I can do...') That was my favorite part. And why can't you be the person you truly are? If people won't accept you for that, then you gotta be around different people
haha. But this was a great poem. I can totally relate to the feeling of not belonging. I love how this poem is filled with such motivation. It's very inspirational. And optimistic. I like it a lot! Very great read, you're a great poet
