Death of Peace

In the evenings,
There is always something
Eating me up--
Something chewing constantly
On my bones...
Rattling the peace held
Within my body,
Destroying the calmness
It used to hold.

Why in the end did Phineas die?
And Gene--why didn't he cry?
A book telling a tale
Of two friends
Whose dreams, combined, are
Shattered by death...

Mixed-up thoughts rattle my head,
Clogging my mind,
Shielding the dread.
I hold myself accountable
For what I feel.
These circumstances of mine
May certainly kill.
