Divine Presumption

Hope is mankind’s way to adjust
A feeling that’s rooted in faith and love
The wonderous instinct and component of life
A gift for the righteous who trust

Trust your feelings, learn to feel
With a firm assurance of unclear things
We define it as; confident expectation
Give thanks for awareness that’s real

Real reliance is here to stay
Do not confuse hope with wishful thinking
It’s a wonderful part of divine salvation
For God knows your heart when you pray

Pray to the Lord, He’ll help you cope
Have faith in His will, He knows what you need
If you fall on your knees all blessings will come to pass
And that is the reason for hope

I love the scriptures you based this on! Yes, the assured expectation of things hoped for... a reality, not wishful thinking.. assured! And I do believe His will will come to pass soon and all the hopelessness in the world will give way.

"For God knows your heart when you pray" <-- sometimes it's so hard to think we are worthy of His love and help.. but this part is so true and reminds me of 1 John 3: 19,20 that we shall assure our heart's before Him in whatever our hearts condemn us in, for He is greater than our hearts.. that's so comforting!

Thank you for this wonderful write!

You have done wonderous work with this form! This flows very nicely. The meaning is very deep, yet does not overpower the simple language. You have once again put very deep emotion and wisdom into simple and beautiful words.

Like many words, hope has a variety of meanings. The kind of hope you describe in your poem is a spiritual hope that can also be described as faith. Another type of hope is the desire to carry on when thing become desperately tough. It may involve making hard decisions or just clinging on for dear life. All sentient creatures have this kind of hope and, like faith, it is a gift from God.

You see, once again, your poetry has kicked my mind into gear. I hope your poem gives Jackie what she needs.

    Love, Peter
