She's a young blonde with curls.
But at midnight tonight,
She's a dumpster girl.
Sleeping on a stained bed
that rests on her head
of cardboard and shame
this girl with no name
She just gave love to a millionaire.
Whose fifty dollars was of little care
A rich man cheating on his wife
with no knowledge of a double life
So the dumpster girl
sings herself to sleep
Crying the same tears week after week
"Why am I walking on these streets?
Swelling sores irritate my feet.
Earning a living on my back,
Being forced to perform disgusting acts?"
Why can't someone love me for me?
I may be whore.
But my heart is sweet."
She sings each night.
The same, tired tune
She's looking for a home,
not a transient room
Author notes
The song is an anthem for the "lost children". These are a generation on the homeless, the abandoned and the young. They are forced to live hand to mouth. They are forced to fight off potential rapists, drug dealers and serial killers.

Wonderful!
An emotionally charged piece, full of wretchedness and injustice. But there is a beauty to it, a hopefulness and a real strength. Few could convey such a lot of feeling so elegantly. Love it!!

BRAVO! BRAVO!
It is the highest honor you give your ink
to write for another
who cannot speak...upon the lines
in tender verse ....asking us to open our hearts
and hear her words!
BRAVO! BRAVO!
