Shattered Rain

Spread my arms and face the sky,
Where lonely clouds rain glass shards.
A million tiny sparks from above
To prick my skin and spill my blood.

My laughing mouth collects the glass,
Slicing my lips so my bitter blood
Drips down over my lapping tongue,
Yet all I taste are tears of longing.

My bare arms bleed for sky's tears,
As my soul bleeds for your absence.
These scars that will forever show
This storm of biting, shattered dreams.

Sunny days have come and gone.
Never again will light break through
These clouds that drop jagged pieces
Of what hope I once had.

The gods do mock me where I stand,
Alone in this field of withered grass
Where once I danced and laughed with you.
Now all that's left are my empty, bleeding arms.

Thunder calls out, low and angry.
It demands to have it's warning heard.
So all my know of the glass storm
That comes when love is broken.

This delicate rain that brings my tears
And cuts my flesh so even blood leaves
My heart, alone within my chest, without even
Crimson purpose, shudders and beats on,

The most broken thing in this storm of shattered glass.
