Spoken from the Heart

Trapped within a calcium cage
Encased by epidermis
Desperately pounding
'Gainst crimson walls
For the chance to one day
Burst free

Gushing blood with every beating
Eternally whipped to keep me screaming
I quiet down, but never stop
- Can't wait until they let me drop

Two guards remain forever near
- The cause of endless torment -
Pumping me full
Of toxic gas
To keep me from falling
Asleep

Gushing blood with every beating
Eternally whipped to keep me screaming
I quiet down, but never stop
- Can't wait until they let me drop

(Dead)

    Guards is misspelled.
I like a lot of your word choices in here, they really add to the whole beating heart imagery. "Desperately pounding/'Gainst crimson walls/For the chance to one day/Burst free" is my favorite bit.
I feel like your third stanza confuses me a little and so it loses a bit of the flow for me because I had to stop and try and figure out the meaning/symbolism, not that that's the worst thing. Who are the guards?
