I’ve got burrs burrowed deep into the depths of my heart,
Prickle-riddled agents that from me won’t depart.
I’m wont to nestle nettles ‘gainst the innermost parts
Despite the irritation that the fixation starts.
These needle seeds bleed my core’s niches and cracks,
Split taut skin like steppin’ cracks, breakin’ backs.
No pleasure do they measure once their tendrils attach –
The momentary beauty of these flora fade fast.
Racked with taxing pain, troubling suffering
Sprouting from within the vessels slavery’s governing,
Movements aren’t mind – motive alone won’t redeem
The spoiled station set to consistent self-destruction in me.
I need the righteous reed wielded searing scalpel sharp,
Alight like Judah’s might that molded mountains impart,
Smouldering like the sanctum set within the heart of Zion
Where burns the essence of God like within His sole scion.
I need the pierced palms that palms paraded in
To efficiently excise this hidden sin.
Only the physician knows from where the ailment grows,
Flows through capillaries bursting red like a rose.
Only the physician feels the wound ere He tears,
Repairs the wrought clot that with the soul its place shares.
I need wrested from these weeds that started as seeds,
The brambles ‘bout my spirit that apathetic blood breeds.
My light hasn’t shined through these thickets for so long!
I pray for the day that these nettles be gone.
Could you tell what this poem was about?

Thanks so much for your comment and welcoming me back. ^_^ I have definitely been away for a while, working on some other non-poetry things. I'm probably gonna get back into it soon, though. So, as always, I'm glad you liked the poem, and I plan to return the favor soon. I'm eager to read some of the things you've been generating!
