Since infancy it has been so
And so always will it be
When I was sad or lonely
Mother sang this song to me
"Sleep sweetly little baby
I'll rock you while you dream
Of course if you are naughty
Then ALL will hear you scream
Mommy will bind your wrists down
Giving your cheek a kiss
And then she will tie your feet
Onlookers wear masks of bliss
Daddy will bring the bucket out
Covered with a lid of steel
Remove the top quite quickly
The rat inside will squeal
Quickly we will turn it
On your stomach upside down
A blowtorch in your Uncle's hands
In sweet pain you'll soon drown
Flames will engulf the bucket
Heating it red hot
The rat inside will be frantic
It will try to escape, but cannot
Abandoning the metal sides
The digging shall begin
Snapping at your tiny belly
Shredding your soft white skin
The rodent will not calm or quiet
So little girl beware
If you do not sleep tonight
Your screams will rend the air"
That is the song she sang to me
Night after night for years
Now I sing it to you, my child
So sleep, before the bucket appears

Twisted
Nice little song for the wee ones. I am familiar with this form of torture as well though it most commonly ends in the death of the tormented as the rat claws through flesh and into the actual stomach causing all kinds of havoc.
A sick twisted little piece that I can greatly appreciate-though I am glad my mom never heard it or else i may have been sung a different song every night, lol.
Thanks for the entry.
Truly and Darkly,
Dirk

this is a scene in a movie with the rat and the bucket

Yes it probably is.
Many things can be seen in movies. I have never seen a movie with this in it, I had only read about it as a form of torture.

Wow. This is truly scary. Well-executed--the meter and rhyme are perfectly smooth, without sacrificing anything from the story or feel of the poem. Great write!
