If we haven't crossed paths yet, count your blessings because God saw it fit to let one suffer alone, while he spares the others the complications. If you see a girl that goes by the name of Kayla, but can't accept its meaning because she is anything but pure, then just pretend that everything is okay; it will be easier that way.

For the people who couldn't handle it:
If you were one of the people to leave when it got hard, then I want you to know that you were smart. I don't blame you, and I'm not mad at you, because you saw what was coming, and wisely got away from it. It's more than I can say about myself.

If you have laid eyes on my bruises, cuts, and broken bones, then keep in mind that the more you stare, the more you break me. I understand that it's not your responsibility to care, but it doesn't mean I forgive you. Sometimes, when people can't help themselves, they need other people to take control. You would do it for a lost child, and as much as I'd like to claim that identity, I have to admit that I'm not naive; I have my rusty key in my pocket, and I know exactly where home is.

If you are my mother, you no longer matter. You have taught me how to blatantly disregard the problem, and that's what I'm going to do to you. I hope you're happy with your husband's decisions.

For the boy who is confused:
If you are my brother, I hope you become a better man than our father. I hope that you'll grow up smoothly, and not be scarred from any of this. Let them leave no marks on you, and you will have all the possibility in the world to be better than him. Don't let him drag you down with him. And don't you ever dare think that it was okay.

For the girl who can't survive on her own:
If you are my sister, I'm sorry. I wish you wouldn't have had to grow up alone, and I wish you didn't have to harden your heart so that you could survive, because you haven't been able to melt it yet. I'm sorry you left home when you were 17, looking for a savior, and found a man you thought could save you. He couldn't. I'm sorry you had three kids with him, at such a young age, but I'm even more sorry for the kids you continue to mess up with more and more every day. I wish you wouldn't let them spend a whole week with their manipulative, selfish father, and let them come home crying and wishing they never had one. They're too young to deal with this fucked up world. Why do you let them?

Fucking Hell Kayla. Wow. There are parts of this that brought tears to my eyes. This is good, powerful... wow. Your ability to put things into words like this is amazing, it's just a shame that this is real and comes from an actual place. Painful.
