it's the parts
that
stay human
that are difficult.
the parts you never
wanted to change
until
someone
said you
should.
it's that parts
that
make you realize
mirrors are worse
than a conversation
with your mother
because
you can cuss out your mother,
but a bony finger flipped
at the mirror just
intensifies
what you already feel;
it just won't quit
reminding you.
so you jump
in the shower to try
and wash away all sadness,
and you try to scrub
off the remainders
the person you
used to be.
something
wins the battle.
but you're losing it
you're losing
yourself.
