The Mariners Wife

Her eyes linger on the ocean
Green gazes over foamy crests.
They stretch for miles
and yet, no glimpse of him.

She may as well take hold of
the current with salty breath
and eyelashes to windblown cheek
where she can breathe of him.

Perhaps there he will be found
tasting a new life or gulping in
vistas as a starving man
devours daily bread.

"I long to be your bread"
she murmurs, but the longing
is lost in the great expanse
and the gaping, vacant horizon.

We don't have any problems, do we? Can you imagine in the days of sail? How cheap life was...http://allpoetry.com/poem/1510410

Great write, a lover abstaining seat at bloated carnal table refusing sweet tempting mouth watering morsels even as wafting aroma makes salivating wetness. Patiently impatient awaiting that which can only bring her true release from the hunger which drives her, and quiet the growls which manifest from deep within her.

    I adore this.
    It's beautifully written.
    The flow is wonderful....
I normally pick a favorite verse, lines...
This one though, is all my favorite.

I actually came here to read a few of your poems, and return the comment.
But I think I've already read at least 10....
Looking forward to reading more. ;D

You have captured the feeling of how she sees the sea as an extension of him. This is true Platonic love, where she takes her love for him and transcends it to become the love of all. Wonderful.
