The three knights

Under a starlit night sky with a full moon up high
three knights walk through the streets
of what once was a great city, now merely ruines and ashes
dust and dirt twirles where they pass, with each step reminded to the past
by shattered stones and bricks of once majestic palaces and homes

They halt in front of what`s left of the castles front wall
the impressive gate twisted and turned into a heap of metal
beyond only the foundations survived the fierce battle
Fires raged for days and honorable men were slain in vain
innocent children and women tortured and murdered

One knight drops to his knees and a single tear rolls down his cheek
He too fought in the battle and knew what had been lost
It had been more of slaughter then a fair fight for most
He took his sword out its shaft and placed it firmly in the ground.
The other knights gathered around the sword and kneeled as well
They looked upon each others faces and laid their right hand upon the swords guard
The three men sweared that avenges would be theirs, they roared as wolfes in the night, with white fire burning in their eyes and desire for revenge in their hearts.
This was the first day of the rest of their lives.
