A Smoldering Drive

It all begins with the push of a button
the turn of car keys
a long commute to a dead end job

My mind begins to stretch
as the music pulsates my forgiving blood cells
I reach contact with the woman hidden in boxes
and we have our conversation

Producing art takes a small amount of me
mostly carving memories like screenshots
I transcript life lines that later will be used
like plastic table cloths, over and over

It's short, not very time consuming
quick and illegible
so much so that the point is later redefined
or left undefined in empty quotes

I arrive a minute too soon
and the hamster must drop the wheel
maybe later will bring a new conversation
but I must keep the lady waiting

Author notes

Simply put, I write and drive... that is usually when my best work comes about. Also why I have a massive collection of notebooks Great idea for a contest I must say. Very different.

yes, this is excellent you know the creative process can be so different for all of us but it appears that driving can be a great time for being creative.

I would suggest a digital recorder over a notepad if you are driving.

I imagine all my stuff while i am stuck in traffic, a few key words easy to remember and to build upon.

I play only music I find helps my creative imagination flow and or listen to poetry.

You are a very well versed young woman you know.

Fascinating... I love the laid back attitude towards the creative process... not a "labor" of love... just a love... the words come out of you so easily! Great structure... more relaxed approach than most of us take to the creative process.
