Freedom At Last

Missing image

No longer a prisoner
within the depths of my mind
Chains broken, tossed
demons left in the past

Night terrors replaced with
peaceful, serene slumber
Never to look over my shoulder
in fear and desperation again

Learning to forgive myself
and knowing it was not my fault
Embracing, cleansing, releasing
finding all the love inside

Freedom at last

    Hoodwinked

God always forgives us but I have always heard it is the hardest to forgive ourselves. When we can let that go, we are truly free of guilt. I love this poem. It says a lot to me. Congrats on being hit by the bandits.

This was a really nice write and one that shows a lot of emotion in the words. Everyone needs to be able to forgive themselves before they can live and find the beauty in life that surrounds them. it isn't so hard. You live with yourself a lot longer than anyone else.
