The Coral Reef

It is a change in the waves that spurs this thought today.
A rain on the internal hour-glass parade.
As if the sands of time have shifted,
No longer grazing the eye of bright spirit lifted.

Like lines double-crossed, washed away by the ocean,
Then once again re-trailed in a rollercoaster of emotion.
As if days have become nights that shine like the sun,
And epiphanies like clouds blot out the solace of an inner fun.

A zombie of sorts as phrases again and again become retorts.
Followed by the once again repetitive reports,
That day by the day the introspective of ones true path fades away,
Like chocolate melted on a hot summers day.

It used to be in earlier moments like this,
That one could stop and intersect the bliss,
With such memories of warmth and wake in the morn,
To find a smile has swept away all forlorn.

Yet in this sea I am facing another me,
One internally bound to the thrashing that will not shake free.
As if teardrops of rain met the grit of teeth,
And submerged in this trench of an ocean I am the coral reef.

Author notes

I find that in the worst of times I write.
As if what comes out is built to spite
And I think these words will heal the hurt,
But like vacant teardrops on a hot summers dirt,
I find the day has turned to night;
And the humor dwells deep within my plight.

Please tell me what you think
