Nautica

Had she been,
just for a moment,
would it have made any difference?

The matron says,
'do not linger on it -
what might have been
and what is not,
it means nothing in the end.'

Still the thought is there
and I wish so hard
to hear it.

What a beautiful
sad
momentous occasion,
passed with so little fanfare,
and not enough grief.

Little sailor,
row safely.

The story in here is so sad that when I first read I was overtaken...and am still !
Ot is beautifully written...I just love the last line....and those cliches people use to comfort may be true but are just useless...theMatron's words here.

"So little fanfare" but not in our hearts.
