Memory

It starts with the dawn
The world- bowing before her
The streetlamp's tired yawn
Those which once wore her-
Down have disappeared
The dark fog has cleared
To let the day begin-

Angels by her side,
The stars-they have kissed her
And she'll softly glide
Sorrow will dismiss her
Now she flies gently by
Letting the mem'ries die
To start a new dream-

Life has come and gone
The world- wish to adore her
The times she had drawn
Can no longer bore her
She forgot what she feared
The moonlight appeared
to light up within

The light is her guide
The stars- they have missed her
The dream has now died
The moon will assist her
As she goes lightly by
Never to go awry
On lullaby stream-

To start that new dream

Author notes

This was written for my recently deceased cat- now I understand that to some it's kinda funny (my sick mind, now that I think about, agrees) but I wish it to be taken with some amount of seriousness. I've had Ginger since birth, and she was my best friend through most of my life (sadly, I guess, if I'm calling my cat my best friend.) I love her. vv

How'd I do?

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!

    nice

I think that's a nice way to remember a good friend you've had for so long. A lot of poeple are very close to our furry friends. There is nothing wrong in recognizing and acknowledging the loss of a good friend be that friend a person or furry creature.Sorry I was't really able to help you with any real critic on your poem. If you do revise it, perhaps do so with the title of your poem.
