As I stare at him and the love of his life
his smile stretched across his face
as he belies a skinny sparrow
that has no energetic grace
Her sunless eyes keep shining
behind their darkened clouds that blind
I watch as he kisses her thin red lips
as music fills my mind
As berry brandy wisps of song
catch feathers with notes so faint.
Whispering the sonnets
in between the churches gnarled restraint
Her owl like eyes emit wise thoughts
where no such passion lies
I try to pay attention
to the boring preacher’s cries
But although the notes could pierce hearts
I cannot draw away
the images of their loving dance
upon this gloomy day.
