Chapter 1
“Lorcan lets play hide and seek, pretty please.”
Why couldn’t I be an only child? He thought as his two younger brothers ran deep in to the forest giggling.
I surely was enough to cope with, let alone James and Will.
I started to count lazily; it was obvious that I did not intend to play by the rules. Trying to see which way they had run.
“1, 2, 3, 10, 24, 32, 99, 100! Ready or not here I come.” I raced down the bank and through the endless fury of trees. It felt like hours by the time I had stopped running, out of breath. The trees around me looked strange. They were by far older and taller than the ones I had started to run through.
“Lorcan” That is James, turning my head to the direction of the voice. They had gone through the black trees. There were horrible stories that involved death and destruction. I had never believed the tales myself because I had never seen them. I had laughed at the gullible people who had told them but their words were enough to keep me away from the centre of the forest. Now I was standing right in front of them. They looked terrifying.
“James, Will come out from there. It is not a game anymore.”
More giggles from the boys as they danced with laughter behind the black ferns that seemed to bar their way of escape.
“Did you hear what I said? Get out of there!”
“No!” The boys chorused together.
“Why should we do what you say?”
“You will only catch us.”
With that, they disappeared from view completely behind the black branches. All seemed silent and deadly.
Instinctively I stated running towards them. Heart now pounding so loud, I was sure that the whole world could hear it. I passed the first black tree. Its bark seemed scorched by fire. The ashes choked my lungs, like spores in the air. The deeper I went, the closer everything was, the trees, the darkness and the air. The canopy was thick. Hardly any light could be seen through the dead leaves above me. If I were to go any further, I would be merging with the trees themselves. What choice did I have? Instinctively I did not cry out for my brothers because I could not see what else might be listening to me, anything could be here. I ducked low to the floor and felt the roots
That was so thick that the soil had pushed them up and out of the damp earth. I sat there for a while so that my eyes could get used to the darkness. Fear as well as death entered my subconscious, It was worse than torture.
************************************************************
Chapter 2
It took a while for my eyes to accustom to the darkness but finally I saw the outlines of the roots that scattered the floor and the various animals like badgers and foxes, they did not bother me, they sniffed my feet and uninterested they scurried away. I could carry on my search for Will and James and I steadily rose to my feet. I feared to touch anything that I saw and walked only as fast as I dared. I could not tell if the real world outside was light or dark now. I tried to focus, but all I could think of was the wolves and the witches and vampires from the tales from the people of Churchdown village. That place, my home seemed so far away from me. I had never ventured this far before.
Reader if you think I was calm at this point you would be very wrong. I am not the bravest lad in the village more like the most reckless. I should have run back to the village to fetch the council or the elders. They would have got James and will out of the forest. Too late for that now it was up to me to get them out.
As I walked deeper in to the unknown Un-trodden earth I wondered why I was here at all and how pointless my efforts were. What if my brothers are not here and that they are playing tricks on me. They could be at home right now.
“Crack!” I froze to the spot; something big is behind me a low and angry growl rumbled within the folds of the beast’s throat. I tried not to scream or move. I fixed my gaze upon his yellow eyes that hungrily watched me. I was not going to wait around to find out what was going to happen next. Reaching deep inside my pockets I pulled out my pocketknife and a lighter. One good thing about the thick canopy was that the leaves were dry and sheltered from dew and rain I lit a large stick and held the flames protectively in front of me I felt safer but only a little. I could not see anything except where the light-struck I started lighting sticks around me and created other little bonfires to keep me in and to keep other things out. The wolf luckily lost interest and eventually skulked away. Tired and disappointed. In a way, I felt somewhat sorry for the old wolf but I refused to be his tea. I sat within the ring of fire wondering what to do next. I looked at my watch and it was past eight o’clock. I wish I could just go home. The truth was I did not know the way home, every tree was the same and every path looked hopeless.
Just when all hope had faded from ever finding my brothers. I heard a loud high-pitched scream. It echoed and shook the trees including myself. Again I broke in to a run never had I won any sports day race but today I could have beaten an Olympic runner. I clung to that scream as my last hope fear ran along side of me mocking every step I took. In my mind, I had no doubt of who had shrieked none but James could have shouted so loudly. Now I was blind with tears with my knife in my hand I raced towards my brothers with their potent trail of sound. I reached a clearing where tree stumps littered the leaf-strewn ground I saw James standing so still that I thought for a second that he was a statue.
“James” I could see him clearly the lack of trees in this area gave way to the early evening sky that thankfully gave resident to the brightest full moon I had ever seen. James looked around in astonishment and ran towards me arms flung wide as we gripped each other tightly. For that second in time I felt like I had achieved something for once. Then a dreadful sick feeling came over me and my legs shook all at once.
“Where is William?” James began to cry, hot wet tears ran down his dirty cheeks. His puffy red eyes told me that something had happened. James pointed across the clearing.
There was something over there a person he seemed to be cloaked in black; it was quite hard to make out from this distance. Will must be over there. Maybe that person is helping Will. I took James’ hand and placed my fingers to my lips, instructing him to be extremely quiet. James was silent. He did not dare to disobey me for a second time today. He gripped my hand and we approached.

Chapter 3
I did not know if I should call this stranger to thank him or not. He must have realised that we were here. Something is not right. I signalled to James to keep low to the ground and to remain quiet. He did as I asked; I started to creep to the side of the clearing, hoping to get a better view of this man and where was Will?
The hooded stranger was breathing heavily; he was holding something tightly in his arms. It was Will.
This man noticed that I was watching him and turned towards me, he dropped Will on the floor I waited for Will to move or cry but he did neither, in fact, he did nothing. His body was motionless. The man straightened up to his full height, he towered over many things in the forest. His black coat made my superstitions worse as it aided him not to walk but creep spookily towards me.
My blood turned colder with every step he took, my breathing faltered when he stopped over me and my trembling heart skipped a beat. The stranger said nothing but removed his hood. A mass of shoulder length hair that was jet black, camouflaged with the night sky that had at this point swallowed the moon. I scrambled for my lighter again but by the time my fingers had grasped the flint the stranger had grabbed me throat. I fought and struggled but his grip was unbearably strong I finally gave in and accepted that he was going to murder me. O how wrong could I have been? Seething pain boiled under my flesh, as my skin began to tear and rip, pierced by two sharp spikes.
I felt the blood in my veins. It had changed direction, now fast flowing towards the incisions in my neck; it felt like gravity had tuned me upside down. My head felt top heavy, my eyes now drifting out of focus my legs had given way to an entirely new force that I could not control. I slipped to the floor the darkness had taken over.
************************************************************
Chapter 4
My body hurt all over, searing pain down my left side. My body screamed in protest as I tried to lift my head. Every muscle within me cried mutiny. There was nothing I could do I tried to regain a comfortable sitting position, reclining against a dirty blank wall behind me. I started to gaze at my alien destination; dark dirty walls engulfed and stretched high to the tall roof that seemed ongoing, a simple camp bed opposite me,
A few broken chests of draws and a sinister chair with spikes all over it. I wondered who had sat in it previously because dried blood decorated its wooden frame and the floor around it. My head was throbbing. It felt like my brothers had been playing loud drums inside my head and that my brain was about to explode. Where are my brothers? I thought Looking around in alarm. Memories of last night came flooding back with new skeins of pain this time within my mouth, it reminded me of the feeling you get after visiting your local dentist. My mouth felt overcrowded and uncomfortable, as if someone had punched my teeth way too hard. I decided to search for James and Will. It took all my strength to push against the wall to stand, I clutched a stitch that rapidly formed under my ribs, and I refused to walk stupidly, so I went slowly past the bed to the door. I walked with caution and silence down the dimly lit corridor, which would have made anyone claustrophobic. The strobe light above that was barley fastened to the ceiling flickered, the sense of cold gave me Goosebumps I realised that I had lost a shoe and my jacket after last night I want to know what happened. The same provocative questions that fuelled the determination and the power in my stride quickened in pace. The hall met its end and I descended the narrow stairs to the lower level of this strange abode. A terrible smell hit my nose as I reached the bottom step, looking over I saw blood, fresh blood, everywhere! I felt surprisingly sick and dizzy; I could never handle a surgery because of all the disgusting body fluids. I thought this might have been an old slaughterhouse at first; the only problem with this guess was that the fresh red omen oozing down the walls was not old. There was a huge bang and I heard crying, it was James. I crept quietly behind the canvas wall that separated the hall from the main room. Sitting behind a pillar, I could see through the gap the stranger was facing my brother and a beautiful girl that looked unconscious. Brunette hair draped across her face, tied to a similar chair I had seen upstairs, luckily void of upward nails protruding from the crude structure. My brother crying and struggling was gagged and tied to the wall his legs were swinging wildly, to watch him was torture, I felt angry and wanted so badly to punch this guy who does he think he is? At that point I noticed cuts up James’ arms I knew that they were far to sharp for a knife. They looked like puncture marks in his skin, I saw the blood around me, It gave me a strange urge I had never felt before It powered me to think that it was near and yet the very thought of happiness form blood made my insides churn. Subconsciously I stepped into the room I did not know how I was going to help the captured on the wall but I would not make much difference now. The stranger in the cloak was more visible in the candle light his hood was down and I could distinguish more of his features. Green eyes, dark hair, well built and tall, wearing nothing but black clothing. He noticed me presence and turned on the spot to face me. He held out a hand of welcome, this made me more confused. Anger built up again at his arrogant smile and I punched him extremely hard in the face. He did not expect it because he paced backwards slightly but no harm had come to him and this made him grin even more.
“You have your strength back I see, that is good.”
He stared at me with cold and hungry eyes and I thought he would chain me up with the others but he just turned his back on me and addressed me again.
“Are you going to eat something you must be hungry. First though” looking at me.
“You cannot eat looking like that.” As he said this he pointed at my bare foot and torn shirt. He handed me clean clothes and asked me to put them on. I was grateful for the clothes but wary I put on the clothes, they looked very similar to his.
James cried and shouted, kicking and screaming,
“Lorcan!” His voice was horse it sounded like he had been shouting ever since last night, he looked so tired, tears streaming down his face.
“Lorcan, I wanna go ome.” The dirty yellow cloth that bound his mouth tightly distorted the boy’s speech.
Impulsively Lorcan Looked blank and hungry fear and fatigue engulfed his senses. He moved towards James when the other man held him back like a puppet on a string.
“He is mine. I found that girl for you. Do what you like with her.”
“What was he talking about James is his? Before Lorcan could react, the man rushed at the boy, now terrified and pulled him off the wall. Many bones forced to twist, crack as the bindings held him fast the dark stranger lowered him down, and a scream so loud that it rang in lorcan’s ears. The man straightened up once more and wiped his face. James was no longer stirring crumpled on the floor. His neck was bleeding with the same puncture marks his face drained of colour, void of life.
Lorcan awoke form his hungered trance he pieced together the murder scene almost at once. his brother dead on the floor and his killer looking rather pleased.
“You bastard!”
Strength had returned rather quickly, sprinting towards his brother’s killer his hands at his throat.
“I made you too strong, release me.”
“And why the hell should I”
“Because we are the same, we are vampires.”
Shock took over and I could feel my shaking hands loose grip around his neck, backing away slowly from this monster.
“I am not like you, I am not a vampire.”
“Then why are you teeth different? Why are you stronger and faster? Why are you suddenly hungry for blood?” The vampire stared with complete satisfaction on his face.
“That is where you are wrong” choking back tears I may be a vampire but you forgot to ask if the limited menu matched my dietary needs.”
The vampire looked confused.
“Meat and blood that is all you need on the menu.”
I now shaking my head I walked over to the girl and untied her I could sense his fear as I did so because he knew I was far stronger even though I had not eaten. I was far younger and agile which gave me a slight advantage. I tried to buy a little more time by rambling.
Hoisting the girl on to his back and picking up his brothers lifeless body he slowly walked to the door.
“You can not leave. You will be jeopardising vampire’s identity and secrecy.”
“Too late mate. You should have thought of that when you turned a vegetarian in to a vampire, you idiot.”
Now I had a huge grin on my face but the triumph did not make up for the death of James and Will. How was I going to explain to the village that I was a vampire and that my brothers were murdered? A pang of worry struck me that the village people would kill him and blame him for the murders of his own kin. He cannot return to the village he must go somewhere else,
Walking ever-faster back through the forest, I could see far better than last time. Nocturnal vision was so handy. His stomach was grumbling he was hungry. Now fighting the urge to kill the girl on his back was incredibly difficult but he refused to kill her, could not and would not do it.
He laid her down in the forest and struck a huge fire. The light flickered and danced on her face she had not stirred since I had seen her in the bloody room.
Maybe she is hungry or thirsty too. With that thought in mind, I left to search the forest, catching a few things on the way. Berries and leaves. I was tempted to eat the voles and rats around the place. I was so hungry I almost abandoned my senses. I refused. I eventually returned to the fire. The girl was wide-awake when I returned and she screamed at me, alarmed I yelled with her. She tried to suppress a giggle.
She saw the clothes I was wearing and recognised them. She became frightened again and refused to look at me.
“What is your name?”
The girl refused to answer.
“I will not hurt you. The other guy would have he was a vamp….” He could not Finnish his sentence he had forgotten that he was also one of them.
“Emily” Her brown eyes gazed in to his face searching for a sign from his face that could bring her harm.
“What a lovely name.” I paused for a moment all was silent between us. Instead, I passed the berries at her and she started eating them. She smiled at me as if she were saying thank you.
“Will you not eat with me?”
Oh, how I wanted to but I knew they would not fill me up. I took a few and chewed. They tasted like bile. I wanted to spit them out but I said nothing and gritting my teeth I swallowed and made an excuse that I was not keen on berries.
She giggled again and continued to eat.
“Do you come from the village?”
Emily nodded and asked if I lived far. I ignored this question. I did not want to talk about what seemed far in the past.
“What is your name?” She stared at me with curiosity, should I tell her?
“Lorcan.”
I hoped she would not recognise the name but It was hard to think of one up on an empty stomach. The hunger was extreme. I wondered what would happen to a vampire if they would not eat. I suppose die a painful death.
“I had better get you back to the village your family must be worried.”
I helped Emily to her feet and extinguished the fire with my foot.
“Why did you take me from home in the first place?”
“I didn’t take you.”
Thinking of a nice story to hell her she looked frightened enough already.
“I found you and well…. You are great company.”
I seemed to have said the right thing because she blushed and went quiet. Now we walked side by side together in the darkness.
************************************************************ Chapter 5
Hours passed and still we were traipsing though the forest. I had never realised how vast this wilderness really was. Emily begged me to have a rest. I could not refuse. She perched herself on a rock and began to rub her feet. I did not realise how far we had walked because I was oblivious to pain, I felt so much stronger.
I remained standing and Emily inquired as to why I was not tired. I pretended not to hear. Instead, I took a seat opposite her and made another fire. The night was so peaceful. We were talking about many things like favourite colour and favourite animal to pass the time. She would talk of the summer and the things she would be doing when she got back to the village. I could not help but to envy her slightly, I wished to have her freedom once more. The many things I took advantage of, like food and family and my parents. I wish I had been nicer to my brother’s maybe none of this would ever have happened. Playing hide and seek only yesterday seems so long ago now, hearing James and Will giggling behind the black trees was the last time I saw either of them smile. Other dark unhappy thoughts invaded my mind, Pitchforks, fires and the putrid smell of flesh burning on a funeral pyre. I shuddered at what would become of me it was either that or starving to death. I could not decide which was worse. I just wanted to sit with Emily. It was odd I had never seen her in the village before. I did not recognise her from college. She was so pretty I would have been sure to notice her passing me in the corridor. I felt warm and happy with her.
“How did you find me?”
The twig I was fiddling with snapped in my hands. I had dreaded the question since she had woken up. I could not avoid her gaze or not giving her an answer.
I shifted awkwardly in my seat and wondered how she would respond to the truth. I thought the truth was better than a lie so I told her everything from start to end. Her eyes widened as I retold the story of loosing my brothers in the forest and she almost backed away slightly when I had told her I was no longer human. She did not run away though. I was sure she would have.
She put a pale hand in mine, just staring at me.
“I’m so sorry for your loss.”
“There is nothing I can do about it now.”
“Where will you go? You can’t come back to the village they would not understand.”
I was about to answer that one for her when I heard far off in the distance breaking branches. Sickness in the pit of my stomach rose higher and higher. My minds eye flashed though the trees behind us and saw the same monster we had escaped from fast approaching behind us.
Fear took over. I jumped up and extinguished the flames.
“Can you run?”
“What is going on Lorcan?”
“No time to explain can you run?”
Breathing fast I grabbed her hand looking back ever 5 seconds I was not going to let him kill her. A sense of protection for Emily dominated my heart. No way was he going to harm her. The memory of the blood and the smell doubled my pace, my hand gripped even tighter round her wrist. I was hurting her arm I could tell but she did not complain with every breath she tried to keep up with me, she seemed to know that I was trying to help her.
“I am going to get you Lorcan. You cannot escape me.”
That evil horrible voice inside my head I would have given anything to go deaf for to have blocked it out ion some way. I begged Emily to move quicker but she was already going at top speed, panting behind me.
She tripped and fell she was exhausted and every second lost he was gaining speed. I picked her up and savagely threw her across my shoulder and broke in to a run.
Fear made my heart beat over time I thought my ribs would break if it crashed up against its bony prison much longer. I had no idea where I was running, even though I was a vampire I had no idea which direction to go, everywhere looked the same. I just kept on running. I decided that it did not matter where we went we would never be safe as long as it was away from him, as far as possible. My brother’s body was becoming heavy and I found it hard to carry both I made a huge decision to drop his body on the ground to give Emily and I a fighting chance of escape. With the extra weight lifted, I gained rapid speed every muscle ached now I was hungry and tired but refused to give up now. I realised I would have to stop soon and that I would have to think of another option.
“Emily, Emily”
“Yes”
“Think back to the vampire tales your parents told you, how do you kill a vampire?”
Emily thought for a moment.
“We would be safe on Hallo ground, a grave yard or something.”
“Lorcan looked frustrated nope no graves here try again.
“There’s always burning him.”
“I thought of that but it would take to mush time I want to kill him quickly with minimal effort.”
Emily thought long and hard.
“Is there any running water near by?”
“Possibly there should be one in this forest somewhere well we could stand there that would be safe.”
Lorcan laughed and said it would protect you at least.
“Sorry” she said quickly. “I forgot you’re a vampire too.”
Lorcan let out a groan and a smile and said any other thoughts.
“Well the obvious one would to stake him with a bit of wood through the heart.”
“Yes well done, why didn’t I remember that?”
His spirits lifted and picked up speed. Life became even more exciting when we could hear a beck or stream near by. Placing her on the ground, she instinctively jumped in to the middle of the water.
“I am protected now Lorcan.”
“Good” was my reply “I don’t have to worry about you for the moment then,” With a grin. I began frantically searching the ground for a sharp piece of wood or any piece of wood. That would kill a vampire. This is absurd I thought to myself. Just then I found one, groping for a sharp stone I started chipping away at the wood. Every time I hacked a bit off, I could hear his breath against my neck he was fearfully close but at least he could not hurt Emily while she was in the water. However if I fail she would be trapped there. I pushed that dreadful thought out of my mind. I had no time to worry about what would become of her if I were to fail because I could not fail, for her sake.

Chapter 6
All was quiet, too quiet. I had finished my spear like object and had stood on the bank of the river, waiting for him. The endless waiting was more frightening. Eventually falling out of the darkness was the bent low figure.
His eyes now bloodshot and piercing gaze was unnerving.
Emily let out a small scream, which reminded me of James before he died. I knew I had to protect her now. I did not want to become a complete failure. She trusted me, which made me feel a little braver. I held my weapon high and firm within my grip. I walked slowly and steadily towards the intruder.
“Get lost you horrible creature.”
My sharp stick still rose above my head. The sharp edge looked threatening. I was almost scared to hold it. The vampire did not move. He was surprised to receive unwelcome arms.
“Be reasonable Lorcan, We can be great friends.”
“Never so forget it. I am not friends with murderers.”
With that, I lunged at him and the chasing game began.
He scrambled to get away from my angry slashes. He had lost speed and turned round to plea.
I refused to listen to his lies and stabbed him.
A roar of extreme pain carried over to Emily.
“Lorcan! Lorcan! Are you ok? Say something.”
“I’m fine. Do not worry.”
I was so glad Emily was here. I stabbed repeatedly at his chest. Black liquid and red blood issued from the wound. I carried on punching holes in to his chest until I was sure I had killed him.
A wave of triumph and relief washed over me.
“What do I do now?”
Emily replied
“Have you stabbed his heart?”
“Yes”
“Right you must rip his heart out and eat it.”
I felt sick and had to move to one side to get fresh air, which was hard with the closeness of the forest. No light and no air made the trees spin.
Emily rushed to my side.
“What is the matter?”
“I cannot eat his heart” was the stifled reply.
“I am a vegetarian vampire.”
“Lorcan you must otherwise he will return and kill us both.”
I felt weak enough as it is because of the hunger and the thought of eating his heart made me feel worse. I felt like a failure because I was reluctant to kill him and to save her.
I grimaced at the thought but raised my hand and plunged it into his chest his silent heart no longer pounded. It just oozed blood down my arm. Part of me felt completely grossed out the other wanted to eat it was power mad and hungry for it. I focussed on Emily and her need to feel safe.
“How much do I have to eat?”
“All of it I’m afraid said the scared little voice.”
She gripped tightly to his hand and kissed him gently on the cheek.
You can do it. I thought to myself.
With a deep breath I swallowed the thing in one go. The huger vanished and my tummy stopped rumbling but the colour from my face had vanished completely. I felt sick. My head was swimming green and yellow colours went through my head. I nearly threw up.
“Are you ok?”
I looked up at her worried face the corner of her sleeve was dabbing my lips in hope to soak up the blood. I moved her hand and kind of smiled oddly through the sick feeling.
“Ye I am fine. Can we please get out of here now this place is giving me the creeps!”
After we had burnt the body and witnessed with our own eyes the flesh burn and turn to ash and burning embers spat violently. We turned for home, well her home at least.
*********************************************************** Chapter 7
Finally, they came to the edge of the forest the black burnt trees were falling in to the past and it opened up to the night sky.
Lorcan checked his watch.
“We made it in tome to see the sunrise. Will you watch it with me?”
Emily looked at him and beads of tears started to form in the corners of her eyes.
“Lorcan you forget that you have to stay under the shelter of the sun. You are a vampire.”
“I am fully aware.”
I hugged her tightly and gave her a reassuring smile.
“I would rather spend my last hour with you and watch the sun rise on my death than to either be burned by my family and friends or forced to hide in that dark forest forever or at least until I starved.” He sat her down on the fresh grass away from the forest.
“Will you sit with me Emily please?”
All she could do was nod. Blinded with tears she sat beside me and waited for the sun. I started talking to her and she seemed to remain indifferent to my words. Finally, she asked me something. To hear her voice was all the fresh air I needed.
“Death will not hurt will it?”
“No I don’t think so. My way cannot be as painful as the other options.”
“But what will I do without you? You are my friend. You saved my life”
Well I have been a good vampire I will go somewhere nice I am sure and well ill send you a sign to let you know that I am ok I promise. He gave her a reassuring smile and they hugged. The last few moments were spent in silence as the moon slowly disappeared and the first sign of light had broken the surface of the earth the warm glow warmed the pair and lit them up in sunlight. The heat was wonderful, glorious what a fantastic way to die he thought. I stood up quietly to stretch and gave a large yawn. This woke Emily and she started to cry as she noticed the sun slowly rising over the horizon. She flung her arms around me and sobbed into my shirt.
“Please do not go.” If you hide now I will visit you every day.”
“No I cannot live without meat. You would not want me to starve.
I hugged her once more I would do anything to stay with her. However, I knew that was impossible. She released her grip.
“I understand. I hope you are happy where ever you go.”
The sun was quite high in the sky any minute now and he would vanish, evaporate in to the air. It was now or never to tell her exactly how I feel about her or ill kick myself forever.
He took of his ring it was a simple black band with a blue stone fastened in the centre a topaz blue bright and shiny he slipped it on her finger. Do not forget me Emily. With that, he kissed her. His heart beating fast, finally for the right reasons she returned his kiss and the warmth of her mouth ignited his happiness like a flame white-hot burning inside of him. The stars extinguished around them as the sun shone down in warm reply to the couple, saying goodbye.
***********************************************************
Two months later
It was late July and the weather was fantastic. It has been sunny every day of the week since Lorcan had gone. I had finished college for the summer and no one seemed to notice that he was missing, which was odd. I waited for his sign. I would every morning wait for him in the same spot just before sunrise, and every time he did not come. I would walk home disappointed and would feel grumpy for the rest of the afternoon. However today felt different and a pang of hope made me get out of bed and rush in the darkness past my gate.
I reached the outside of the village when. A clap of thunder boomed through the clouds. I pursued my gut feeling as rainfall in torrents on top of me. I took shelter under a tree, which was not wise I know but I would rather be struck by lightening than get wet. I heard a whistle from above me. It sounded strangely familiar. I looked up to find a young man in jeans and a long white top, also soaked from top to toe. I was disappointed again. I turned to go almost running from the tree. Who ever it was, it could not have been Lorcan. He was wearing different clothes and somehow looked different.
She turned round but the boy was running after her.
“Emily, Emily.”
He grabbed her arm as gently as he could, Beaming with excitement.
“Emily my dear it is me. I have come back to you. This is your sign.”
Emily looked shocked and pleased at the same time.
“But you look different.”
“I am still your Lorcan. If you don’t believe me then I would not know that the morning I died I kissed you and gave you my ring.
She looked still looked shocked.
“How can this be?”
“Lady Judgement thought that it was the wrong time for me to die she has put me back on to this earth as a new person with all my memories to come back to you. I am reincarnated if you like.”
The rain beating harder and faster was almost as thick as a curtain her tears mixed with the rain, she flew at him, and they both embraced each other hugging.
“I love you Emily. I was too scared to tell you.”
She hugged him tighter. The rain and lightning crashed around them and they raced to get in the dry.
It took a lot of explaining to her parents that I was a new guy in town but needed a place to stay. They accepted her story and we lived our lives to the full, without any more vampires or burnt black trees.
