I hold you tight above the city
as the moon explodes
sweeping dust across our world
destroying our future
as your heartbeat begins to fade
I know your eyes are scared
because your hands curl up
as you sink deeper into my coat
in search of protection
but as you slowly disappear
my heart shatters
because I know I can't protect you
the way you want me to
and so I hold you close
and hope that one day
you will find it in your heart
to forgive me.
