As the Coffee Brews

You know...
It didn't have to turn out like this.
You could've tried to understand.
Understand I keep my distance,
Distance that will keep demons at bay
Bay where my emotions grow and entwine to stay.

Stay with me.
Dont leave
Not like the rest of them.
Watch as they walk away.
As their shadows become smaller
Smaller then I feel now.

Now I hang my head in shame
Shame knowing
It didn't have to turn out like this.

    I like this alot. I am not sure if its about addiction or love but I get the message of both from it. Maybe I am just crazy or really drunk? I don't know. I could see it being about addiction tho an addiction that we don't want to throw away because it makes us feel good and whole. Again I may just be crazy.

    I like the emotions in this poem, but I think my favorite aspect is the title, which turns the poem into a snapshot in time, and gives it a very real feeling.
