BRUTAL MURDER BY INDONESIAN POLICE
BAGUS EKUDANTO, Commander of Police in Papua Province ordered AKBP IMAN SETYAWAN (S.Ik) Head of Police of Yapen Regency to ‘clean’ the West Papuan political movement in Yapen, including the old village of Mantembu in the valley of Mt Wayoi. On Sunday 2 August 2009 the police kidnapped seven people from Mantembu and took them to Jayapura where they were incarcerated without charge. On Monday 3 August 2009 at 6am, Police 1 SSK (a company of indeterminate number but up to 150 personnel) entered Mr Wayeni’s house and raped his wife in front of their second child who was sick. Mr Wayeni tried to intervene and was shot with three rounds of ammunition from a SS1 automatic gun and then bayoneted. He ran out of the house and died in the garden. The police threw his body in their car, like a dead animal, and took him to the hospital to sew up his stomach. Yawan Wayeni was forty years old. He was a political prisoner in Yapen for nine years during the Suharto administration. He leaves a wife and three children.

It's easy to close your eyes, and tune out into your own world..but sometimes to do nothing, is surely fault in itself.. I can't understand everything that goes on in peoples minds, and it's hard now a days to tell the sick and mental, from the evil some portray.. But no-matter what the case may be, I think that it must be dealt with. For in this case, obvious greed, and power play their roles. How can a human being feel no regret? I know it happens, but this must mean they are truly consumed of the things of this world. What a damn shame. You always have a way with shedding light on things brother. A terrible story, just saw on the news this morning a similar act done by a group American soldiers in Iraq, one got life-sentence in jail now. This kind of people are lower than animals...I'm sorry for his wife and children, they have to bear all their life this terror. Yuck. Perhaps this police-man will get some bad dreams, a small consolation for sure. Thanks for sharing and take care,

My breath stops when learning of stories like this one, which is unfortunately not an accident by itself. They are indeed lower than animals. The Indonesian perpetrators may escape justice in this world, but with this atrocity they sealed their fate. It may take place after their death, but avoid it they surely will not. I pray for the wife and children of Yawan Wayeni. May The Light have mercy on them. Thank you dear friend for having the courage to comment. Take care.

Please do not let them get to your soul.
Cursing them is against the Word. Rather pray that God does what must be done, soon. I too feel antagonistic about all these incidents worldwide. But we may not descend to the level of murderers, then we too are murderers. Thank you nevertheless for making us aware of these deeds.

Mantembu was the place where I spent a few years of my youth. It was a stunningly beautiful place. Peaceful with abundant and exuberant nature and people living together in harmony. Now it has been desecrated, fouled and perverted by idiots without ethics nor morals. I weep for the Papuan people. Their home has been invaded by brutal murderers.
