This picture; see how intricate and sharp
Created by a skillful human hand.
No photograph, this is a work of art
With every detail crafted strand by strand.
See how each whisker proudly takes its place?
Those eyes, that haughty enigmatic stare
Completes the beauty of this feline face.
Precisely drawn, with steady patient care.
The careful strokes built up each layer of fur,
A graphite pencil and an eye to gauge,
All that is missing is a gentle purr.
In sixty hours, this cat is on the page.
Such skill such art should not remain unsung
This artist I salute is named Paul Lung.

Dear Pat,
Now that this fine sonnet is removed from contest, are you going to accept my invitation/suggestion to include it in the Wyleian collection as Number CCLXIV? (I hope I got the number right!)
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh. -
This is a beautifully penned piece and wonderful take on the prompt.

Thanks for sharing the incredible art of Paul Lung and your accompanying words. They make a fine pair.
Best of luck to you in the contest.

Hi Pattiboo
Being a cat lover myself I have to really admire your poem and the lovely cat accompanying it. This is a unique entry and fits the prompt beautifully.
I'll be reading more of your poetry and I'm sure I'll be enjoying it as much as this one

Cat
Boy, do I wish I could draw like that! And had such an able advertiser of my work!

Hello Pat...I will show my ignorance to say I havent a clue who Paul Yung is, but I know who you are (I think I do anyway) and your poetry has me spinning again. The art you have applied to this drawing/picture, in its/your description is superb, and the tantric rhyme and rythm is perfect yet again...Good luck in the comp...Dan

wonderful!
I have always been impressed by his work. I am also an artist but my graphite skill is of so way lacking...this is wonderful,,,and the poem you've penned is art as well...and very worthy in quality to match the drawing. well done!

Wow!
Such an artist. Such patience.
A perfect poem and tribute.

Dear Pat-i-boo,
Although as asked, you did not sign your name
I recognise your talent just the same
and I with admiration raise my hat
to the artist who, with pencil, drew this cat.
The subtlety and skill which marks his grading
of shadowed fur, defined with layers of shading,
from whiskered face, pert ears to velvet paws,
deserves from me no less than full applause.
But, further, I for you would doff my coat
for this fine tribute to Paul Lung you wrote.
You are the first in answer to my prayers
to enter Pixie's contest about 'layers'.
Your entry leaves me doubly so impressed,
I wish you best of luck in this contest.
Especially since this is your first entry in a Huguenauties contest, we welcome you most warmly with love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.)

A well crafted poem and tribute to clearly a very talented person
