Seeds I planted in yesteryear, in the fertile soil of my heart
Memories now distract my thoughts
Their clinging vines that sprouted, with deep roots of regret
Overshadowing all that’s pleasing to me
My flowers lie dormant, unable to see the light of the Son
So many joys of spring had I forgotten
Of Eden, and the perfect garden You planted east of there
Focused only on the guilt of my shame
Their weeds choke out all my thoughts of enabling hope
No remembrance of having been forgiven
Dusty fields yielding no fruit, in the parched soil of my drought
Bound tightly by the chains of my long silence
Avoiding new storms, along with saving water of refreshing rains
A true brother listens, and his heart speaks truth
O’ to find Christ’s eyes looking back at me through this man!
Confession is the key that unlocked my prison
My worries all fled as Andrew held my very heart in his hands
The joyous liberation I felt in pardon’s release
Snow and ice melt away to uncover fertile ground just beneath
God’s purpose for my being shines once again
And vibrant new life breaks forth like the new growth of spring
Precious gift given in a time and place I rejected
In this God-chosen season of my life, you showed me His plan
Author notes
Just my personal expression of sincere thanks, to a brother who has been a true and sincere friend to me, during a very difficult season of my life. I love you, Andrew.
James 5:15-16
"And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."
2 Peter 1:9
"But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins."
