Patient

You are a stranger
yet nothing in you is strange to me.

I know you entirely
and not at all.

I have seen your secrets -
by your trust,
they are mine to know;
by my oath,
they are mine to keep.

I have traced the traces of your life;

I have seen your labors written
on your face -
your hands -
your womb.

I have seen your pain
and touched the bruise

I have held your hand.
I have held your heart.

Unknowing,
you hold mine.
