I drink because I was born to,
I drink because it helps me thruogh,
the painful days and empty nights,
silence only broken by Mommy and Daddy's fights.
I drink because Grandpa and Mommy did.
I drink because I never got to be a kid,
Grandpa doesn't know how to make amends,
and Mommy had lots of boyfriend's.
I drink because nothing else compares.
I drink because no one REALLY cares,
seemingly meant to be alone,
never to have someone to call my own.
I drink because I'm sad.
I drink because I lost everything I had,
because of drunken nights,
and petty little fights.
I drink because it's my only way to have fun.
I drink because unfortunately my life has just begun,
so much pain is left to be felt,
until my heart will eventually melt.
I drink because I can finally forget.
I drink because I do not feel regret,
for all things I could have, would have and should have done,
for all the battles I lost when I could have won.

i think this is one of the most meaningful pieces that you have ever written...good job rayne...i am sorry for being part of it though

this is a great poem, full of emotions and a heart wrenching story behind the lines...it has a great flow, I just don't like the title that much...I don't know why, it just doesn't fit in my opinion, it gives you a different picture of what you might read which is totally different from what you get to read ( hope you understand what I'm trying to say
) I would use something like ''I drink because'' or ''Why do I drink''...but that's just my opinion...
everything else about the poem is fine, it is a rather emotional and passionate write, so I can't say that much about it, I think the idea or purpose is more important than the structure...
take care

a sad statement well delivered. i found myself torn emotionally given the reasons described for drinking, knowing it will not mend those hurts described.
well done.
