Stranger to my Own Heart

I searched, and looked
Striving to understand
To the depths I took
Longing to make a stand

Its mysteries, its wonders
Beyond my grasp
Intricate and strange
Hard to understand

Every beat, every cadence
Every unimaginable pace
Left me stricken and lost
Frozen in my place

The more I tried, the harder it became
To feel acknowledge, one and the same
For every day and every thought
Leaves me asunder, a stranger to my own heart

What did you think

Nice job on this one. I liked the last two lines the best. They really closed the poem well.

I liked, "the more I tried, the harder it became
to feel acknowledged"...I think deep down we all want some kind of affirmation...not necessarily the spotlight
