That machete is coming down
along with his hatred and his ignorance.
That machete is coming down, coming down
I hear the voices of children crying
no doubt the most awful sound...
still that angry machete is coming down.
I see the faces bathed in starlight
with innocence in their desperate pleas
oh! but that merciless machete has them on their knees.
That machete is taking our lives!
That machete hears no baby's cries!
Oh! but he stops!
That machete hovers over our loved one's heads,
but that machete does not come down!
What is that sound?
Such a calm voice...
Is this music?
There must be an angel singing
stopping all this hate.
No! There is a man!
Such an ordinary man
with an extraordinary voice.
That voice is going up.
Going up!
That machete cannot come down any more
because that voice is going up!
Author notes

This poem was definately different from the rest. It had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't wait to read how it ended. But then I'm left hanging at the end. Not in a bad way though. You like, inspired me to want to find this book and read it. So that I can get the full understanding of how it inspired you to write this poem. I like it though. It's very suspenceful. Question though...is the Michete representing Death it's self? Well, great write. I gotta find this book..
