I can still remember meeting you
down by that river, with water so blue.
We closed our eyes and dove right in,
icy and stinging like millions of pins.
Your hair was sprawled out like a mermaid
and from my memory I knew you’d never fade.
In those same waters we shared a soft kiss;
just two innocent kids caught up in a river of bliss.
Now some odd years later we are old and gray
but I still look at you in that same way.
In your eyes I still see that flowing mermaid
and your beauty still hasn’t begun to fade.
Even though now that river runs dry
I know I will be able to get by;
Next to you I will forever stand
because my life still flows when you hold my hand.
