Heart Storm

I told the wind to blow today
For rain to crash upon my face
I thought today I'd cry a bit
Drown out this empty place.

I held my hands upon my chest
The sky turned navy blue
As sun faded to sunset
I prayed for only you.

I wished I was worth more
Than what you now despise
For every glance into your eyes
May well be my demise.

I hate that I am helpless
That I cry when you can't see
I feel the trickle of peaceful rain
As I fall upon my knees.

I call out to your heart
Into the blustery breeze
Hoping you can hear my voice
And all my trembling pleas.

I care not what others think
There is no hope for today
No promises, no future,
Why the hell do I bother to stay?

Author notes

This started out free verse and i found myself rhyming.. and so when re-reading I felt it was best done in rhyme.

I used tonight's monsoon storm to inspire me along with the song. I love mingling nature with love and sorrow and so here it is. Hope you like!
