i have seen him
in the morning shadows
of tall buildings
lighting a cigarette
in the crook of the wall
where the wind pulls gently
at the coat around his waist
he has never spoken a word
just bobbed his head
underneath his hat
with the pigeon feathers on top
and shuffled his feet
in a rhyhtmic explosion
if man ever takes to the skies
unaided
this man will be the first to fly

I really really like this piece,
Excellent job!

I like MC's "folk hero" characterization. I can't top that.
For we do build up this romantic image of people who we find interesting in some way or another. Of course the reality would probably be quite sobering, but it's not about reality, but about as MC said, creating that image of the folk hero, that creative element within our otherwise humdrum daily lives.

A loper character study
alive on the page,
elevated for the day
to folk hero
with the pigeon feathers
atop his head.
Poignant study,
great closing!
