My Everything (My Reckoning)

The air is heavy with your song
Unconsciously, I sing along
Your melody stained in hollow wood
Bound by many strings
My empty fingers strum along
While caught up in your memory
Dreams thickly painted in my soul
Untrusted memories flow
Now a good day ending in darkness
You were my everything, my reckoning.

When your fist came down
My world shattered, my reflection
Scattered in the ground
Tears fell from your eyes
Fed the pool inside of me
I let not confusion win
Let you paint your words
On my scarred skin
You were my everything, my reckoning.

My blood spilled out
For all to see
Your last breath taken
Taken right in front of me
Your memory lives on
Same hands that loved me
Pushed me to the ground
Love disclosed by broken wings
My empty fingers strum along
You were my everything, my reckoning.

Author notes

Just trying to sort out all it was, all I am. In me, creativity is a spark that invites the darkness. I allow myself to be infected by words. I surrender to memories both pleasant and not. They come out as they are, unedited. Some may be offended. Once I was, and now, I am not. A past relationship is always what it is, a present one is what you make it.

This is very sad that sometime in a relation you get just opposite from someone against your expectations.Perhaps there become none in this world whom ever you can say "My everything" except your own self.may be this is our mistake to think so and we need pay penalty for our mistakes. Thanks a lot for entering this poem in my contest and I wish you all the best.
