Darkling Fall

Sodden hopelessness unleashed upon the world...where am I?
Abandoned to the vile monstrous creatures that roam freely now.
If only I could just close my eyes and die quietly
without facing anymore unspeakably monstrous horrors.
But I daren't close them.
For what will have crept upon me unbeknownst
what might be starring into my eyes when I next open them
if my luck is poor and I again do not die.
For I sense an approach,
I feel someone....something, coming, drawing near.
Perhaps if I close my eyes he will think me dead and pass me by.
Ah blessed darkness, unpeopled; or more accurately; uncreatured;
for people now are not people as they used to be.
A stillness comes over the world,
even the carrion feeders have ceased their customary shrieking.
At first I take heart from the blessed silence.
Until I see my dreamed-to-life nemesis only inches from my face,
eyes of solid black, no pupil, no iris, no whites,
head cocked slightly to one side,
An affectionate indulgent smirk of acquisitional satisfaction
on the nearly beautiful marble-like countenance.
Still my soundless scream continued, as I was pinned immobile
like a deer in the headlights of his singular focus upon my face.
"Hello My Dear, ..."Are you afraid? Are you very very afraid?"
He asked, eyes gleaming with glutinous pleasure.
The moment it took him to close the distance
between his teeth and my throat, was a haunted eternity.
At the point that he penetrated me, my soft pliable flesh;
my mind exploded in a starburst of ecstasy.

I knew in an instant, that I would never be the same;
and the world would never be the same.
I felt a twinge of sadness at the realization that I was glad of it.

    Bountiful and profound...

    A symbolical composition of mixed impressionistic and surreal imageries. A prose-poem of profound "Darkling Fall" that strikes the dynamo of imagination and takes one on a trip flying on esoteric wings, showing samples of exoteric creatures; and finally lands as a flower whose petals diffuse aroma of creativity.

    In respect and admiration,

    Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU

    without facing anymore unspeakably monstrous horrors.
    - you used the word 'monstrous' two lines before, so i think you might do better with a different word here.

    what might be starring into my eyes when I next open them
    - starring = staring

    for people now are not people as they used to be.
    - true that. this line was gorgeous.

    you have an incredibly impressive vocabulary, but you don't sacrifice your diction and message to employ it.
    i loved this, the imagery was vivid and wild. you created a haunting atmosphere almost immediately, and your title resoudned the feelings throughout this poem.

    a great write, i'm glad i came across it.

    keep well,

  • Wow it has been a long time since I've read your stuff.

    "Until I see my dreamed-to-life nemesis only inches from my face,

    -I love the imagery and language here.

    You haven't lost your spark and I'm glad to have come across your work again.

    Well written and entertaining but, for my taste, not very informative. There are so many real horrors in this world I don't spend much time contemplating the made up ones. If i want to get scared i just turn on the radio

    Very good write!

    Powerful and not subtle at all. The world in this does not only end for you but humanity itself.
    even the carrion feeders have ceased their customary shrieking.
    At first I take heart from the blessed silence.
    Until I see my dreamed-to-life nemesis only inches from my face,
    eyes of solid black, no pupil, no iris, no whites,
    head cocked slightly to one side,

    I believe you can actually see it from this imagery here. Excellent job.
