I am not your metaphor
In your so-called enthusiastic life
You envision me
as gold
through squinted eyes.
I stand alone.
I'm self-created.
I am the night.
You and all your judgements rain
rivers of words spilled through
random storms of strange.
I stand strong.
Your heart defeated.
You take the stage.
Don't compose me into your songs
Twisted lyrics camouflaged
by some makeshift harmony that
You're trying hard
to get stuck in my head.
I'm not your microphone.
I'm independent,
But I'm not dead.
I am not your metaphor.

I thought this was wonderful! You used several metaphors and similes throughout, adding a hint of irony to a great take on the prompt. My favorite was:
"Don't compose me into your songs
Twisted lyrics camouflaged
by some makeshift harmony that
You're trying hard
to get stuck in my head"
