My God

They all say they believe in you
And yet they never see your face
But you have shown me your beauty
You showed me your pain your love
You are my Lord above all things

I saw your face first hand
Hanging on the church wall
When i questioned everything
Even your existance

But you have renewed my faith in you
One simple vision of you yourself
All i had to do was quit running
And turn to your love and you showed me

Even when I falter and fail you
Your forgiveness remains
And your love endures thru eternity
You have shown me that in your face

For you sacrificed yourself
For our sins and our life
And afterlife with you
For you loved us greatly

Most say they cant believe what they dont see
But you are all around us
You are the trees the sky
The very air we all breath

And you have shown yourself to me
So none can say
They dont believe what they dont see
Because there is new proof of your existance

For you created it all for us
To live for you and worship you
By our choice not by force
Because that is what you wish of us

I love you my father my god
For you created me and gave me life
And showed yourself to me
When I questioned you most

Author notes

I was at church one day questioning everything about me and if god truely existed, and as i looked up i saw jesus hanging there on the wall in his own blood with the crown of thorns, when he was being crucified, and it truely renewed my faith in him, for he is my god

I question almost everything, there are days when i will sit in church and just stare at the window painting of Jesus kneeled praying to his Father, out Father. It is the painting of the night when Jesus was betrayed...this poem is really good and speaks through truth, understanding, and exsperiance.

    Excellent

I remeber sitting in my theology class many years ago pondering the same question. How do you believe in something you can not see. Its faith that helps us do that. We need to believe in something, through the good times bad times. I know over the years, especially in times that we need him the most ( When my father suffered through cancer, when my 16 year old daughter commited suicide, I questioned my faith in god, but odd as it seems it was that same faith that helped me get through these times. There are still times Im very angry at God, very angry, and thats ok to be angry, but it was those times when I needed my faith the most. I think you wrote a beautiful poem, and asked and answered alot of your own questions that helped you find your faith. I really loved your poem and I hope you continue to write, wether it be about god or the beautiful world he created for us to enjoy.
    Take Care,
    Suzanne
