Unfolding

Cloth tugged by clenched knuckles,
Flushed cheeks and slightly messy hair,
Nervous, scared and trembling.

This mask has taken over you,
Caressing your face in gentle lies of silk,
The cold uncaring, the indifference.

Beyond these walls the sun shines down,
Illuminating the garden where I find you,
Rooted deep within dark soil, your Xanadu.

Trickling streams surround you,
You FLOURISH!
Unfolding your heart shaped petals to the laughter.

Only I know you in this garden,
Where a smile means a promise,
And a kiss sets the sun adrift the blue.

Only here do I know,
What the whispers and moans could tell the stars,
What the folding leaves of your stem to my hand,
Could signal to a heart.

You are unfolding,
We are growing,
Slowly crawling towards sun.

Someday we could plant the seed,
And hail the moon together.
