Ode to a Bumblebee

Ode to a Bumblebee

This ode goes to the bumblebee
    to salute his tenacity.
How hard I’ve tried to rid the nest
    of this ,oh so unwelcome, pest.
Neither Bonide, nor Delta Dust,
    have stopped this cousin to the wasp.
He’s chased away the pesky mole;
    took residence within his hole--
A nest established in the dirt--
    from there he seeks to do me hurt.
I cannot mow, nor can I trim,
    without encountering his sting.
I’ve gathered all the insect lore
    provided by the garden store.
I've purchased every item that
    they swear will rid me of this brat:

Aerosols,
Bottles,
Or tin cans,
Bombs that smoke,
And jars of sand;

Not one of these redeemed the day.
    This pesky bee is here to stay.

Today, in ruins, my lawn resides.
I’ll probably just stay inside

What did you think

    nice..

    i like the rhyme and flow, and it was even a little funny, but yeah..i wouldn't want them hovering around in my yard either! ..but on the other hand.. they are very important so avoidance MUST BE the way to go!

    Legend, I have been a friend of insects for many years, especially the beneficial bumblebee who is a great pollinator, and usually quite docile. However these guys have taken over my yard, are very aggressive and I am allergic to their stings. I hate it, but in self defense , them or me has got to go, and I ain't leaving. Perhaps this is a remarkable commentary on the how and why of all wars.
