The Legends Time

Maytreeara smiled he was going to start a new chapter in his life he felt like it was a new start for him and he had to thank Bane for that.

"May I gather my things?" He shuffled his feet slightly excited, but he was also sad Bane wouldn't allow Ghost on the ship a pirate didn't have the time nor money to take care of his young blind friend.

"You have an hour, if your not here we'll leave without. If you do return you'll sign articles for my crew." Maytreeara nodded he would be back as closet to an hour as he could get and pray to his watching God that he wasn't late. He turned racing down the streets the building near the docks were mostly two story shops, and inns the farther he got into town the more the shops turned into shambled warehouses, storage building, and apartments in disrepair past the shambled part of town was the large sloping lawns of the rich. Maytreeara raced through shops looking at the signs above them briefly he wanted to be able to take care of Ghost without having to really be there and he knew a way, but his idea would cost a lot. Over the years he saved all the money he could scrounge up so when he did leave he wouldn't feel guilty about leaving Ghost because Ghost wouldn't be alone anymore he skidded to a stop the store was just like all the others plain red brick with dingy windows the door was painted a bright blue so was the shutter on the window of the second floor making the shop stick out even though its design was the same as those around it. The sign said "Everything and Anything." it was pretty much a junk shop, but it didn't seem to faze Maytreeara that all this shop sold was junk. He opened the door a small bell attached to it jingled at he did so inside the place was smokey and smelled of old people and dog. A German Shepherd sat looking at him with wide bayful blue eyes.

"Come to see the old dog, boy?" the shop keeper was old with little wisps of gray hair combed to the left trying to hide that fact that he was mostly bald he had a gray beard that needed trimming Maytreeara nodded the dog jumped up wagging its tail with a hyphens that would normally be reserved for pups its jumped up paws landing on Maytreeara's shoulders he laughed petting the dogs head it whimpered dropping onto the floor and looking at him with a pleading look.

"You got money kid?" Maytreeara took the bag's of coins he had stolen from the pirates from his pocket he sat them on the counter before the shop keeper they clinked together as they settled the man weighted each in his hand and smiled slipping three of the five bags into his pocket.

"Three is all he cost kid the rest you keep and you get the dog he's name is Spook." The dog jumped up with puppy like glee trotting around the store his tail wagging furiously Maytreeara laughed he thought it was ironic that the dog was Spook and the person the dog was going to was Ghost he whistled Spook trotted over to him tail still wagging furiously he took the two bags from the counter and left racing through the streets once more skidding widely around corners almost knocking over more than one person they stumbled and growled angry words his way, he was to into the moment to pay attention to them. In a dank back ally Ghost was fixing their little cardboard house his white hair sticking out amide the black grim stained buildings. Maytreeara almost ran into Ghost who had turned into the ally upon hearing Maytreeara's pounding footsteps he skidded to a stop right before he ran into Ghost huffing and puffing to out of breathe to speak right at that moment Spook trotted happily around the corner he wasn't even panting Spook noticed Ghost and surveyed the other boy with his wise blue eyes his great ears perked up in interest.

"Ghost this is a parting gift I am going out to sea." He patted the dog as he said this. "This is Spook and he'll take care of you in my place." The dog barked upon hearing his name standing at Ghost's side faithfully.

"I knew you'd leave eventually it's good to see that you finally are and thanks I think we'll get along just fine." They hugged not caring if anyone saw them then Maytreeara backed up looking at his friend as he stood there with the dog it was a warming picture smiling Maytreeara raced back through the city not wanting to be late and the ship leaving without him.

At the docks Bane looked up at the sky smiling the boy was late, but he would wait a few more minutes Bane didn't know Judith had died so he though the boy was saying goodbye to his mother just as his thoughts turned to leaving Maytreeara skidding across stopping in front of Bane a smile on his face.

"So you never did tell me your name?" Bane gestured that they were to bored the large ship before them Maytreeara looked at the ship and it was like the pirate ship he had seen in all his wondrous dreams, bright white sails pulled taunt ready to catch the wind, pirate flag flapping in the wind making such a peaceful whipping sound that could be heard when the dock was quite enough, the great hulking deck that was made of the finest wood and in gold formal cursive letters across the side of the ship The Legends Time the ships name it was all so much that he stood there gaping for a few minutes before following Bane's order.

"Just call me Maro." He had gotten enough bashing from his mother about his name so he wasn't going to tell them his real name because he didn't want to deal with more bashing and teasing. Bane nodded he pulled papers from his pocket flattening them out on the palm of his hand articles that he had to sign Bane handed him a pen Maytreeara smiled with a flourish of the pen he was on his way. The yellow-eyed man  smiled he had come up from one of the lower decks.

"You gonna give him the brand?" He tapped his right arm where a P was burned into his skin, burned so it would stay no matter what happened, a scar declaring himself a free man of the sea.

"If Maro here wants it yes." Bane disappeared below deck coming back with a smoldering hot poker the end shaped as a P.

"Pirate tradition commands that every pirate have a brand." Maytreeara held out his left arm he wanted it on the hand he used the least Bane nodded bringing the poker down on his exposed skin he had to keep himself from screaming he had to fight back tears until Bane pulled away the poker the P permanently stenciled into place and everlasting deceleration of freedom. The P was angry and inflamed, but they had to admit it looked pretty cool or so it did in Maytreeara's mind.

"Oh where are your things?" Bane looked at him finally noticing that Maytreeara had nothing with him.

"I have everything I need on this ship." Bane already liked this kid even if the answer was him being a smart-ass it reminded him so much of the kids father it was funny.
